Lippmann 3650 Primary Jaw Crusher - Case Study

"The heart of a mine like this can't stop. That's why they chose the Lippmann 3650 jaw."

Conco Western's underground mine in North Aurora, Illinois, produces over a million tons (US) of limestone per year. It's an impressive, state-of-the-art operation run by first rate aggregate processing professionals. Thousands upon thousands of feet of conveyor lead from a single primary jaw, the very heart of the entire operation. Which brand of jaw has earned this level of trusy and reliability? Lippmann.

This installation didn't always have a Lippmann jaw. THe mine's previous primary jaw, a leading brand, experienced problems. The bearings began to show wear and fail. Rather than pull the bearing assembly apart, a careful evaluation was made resulting in replacing the crusher with a superior Lippmann 3650 Jaw, says Delmar Hansen, General Superintendent.

"I was immediately impressed by the new crusher's bearing and shaft size. Lippmann engineers were able to fit their jaw on our existing chassis and increase capacity 20-25% with a comparably-sized machine. The Lippmann 3650 Jaw’s unique chamber design, larger eccentric throw and increased toggle angle resulted in more capacity and increased production. With the previous crusher, we achieved about 500 tons per hour, but now we get 575 tons per hour consistently. End product went from 8” to 7”, which makes secondary crushing more efficient,” explains Hansen.

“In an operation like this, I allocated five days to pull out the old crusher and install the new one, but the Lippmann team had us up and running in three days.”

Today, Conco Western knows what some other leading, successful aggregate producers know about Lippmann, and what quarry operators throughout North America are beginning to find out. When you’re serious about owning the most reliable crushing equipment built, backed by application and after sales expertise second to none, the name you need to know is Lippmann
